This work of art is a USB drive masquerading as a mixtape crafted on a Hitachi Cassette. So retro yet so vintage!
It’s a great concept, bringing us back to the day when tape players were hot. The cassette housing is merely a case for the flash drive inside. With MP3’s on the upswing.. this might be a good idea for an artist like myself in terms of dropping his new “mixtape.”
No word on pricing, storage, or availability, but I expect this to be a hot item!!! I’m definately getting one for my boombox!!!
It seems that Lasonic, the original maker of the Boombox in the ’80s have brought their work of art back to life and has updated it with an Ipod dock and Flash card support for MP3 playback!!!
The “high performance music system” also comes with a an audio output so you can plug it into amp, a “mic mix with echo” feature to really take ya back in an old school-House Party sort of way, and all sorts of color flashing lights!!!
They are already sold out but Lasonic promises more are coming soon!!!! YES YES Y’ALL!!!
In 1973, Motorola showed off a prototype of the world’s first portable cellular telephone. That phone, which measured more than a foot long, weighed almost 2 pounds, and cost $3,995, ultimately became commercial available in 1983. Known as the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, its battery could provide 1 hour of talk time, and its memory could store 30 phone numbers. It may not have been pretty, but it did let you talk while on the go–if you could lift it, that is! In the hood this cell phone was known as “The Brick”.
At $4,000, the only people I knew that had a cell phone in the 80’s were the drug dealers, Nino Brown, and G-Money!!!! This is so classic! Ten stacks to anybody that can get one!!!
