“Young Carter, go farther, go further, go harder, is that not why we’re here? If not so, then why bother?” -Jay-Z
Yea Yea Yea… I know the world stopped ‘cuz Lil’ Wayne’s “Tha Carter III” LEAKED right? Oh.. it didn’t??
Damn… Anyway, I gave it a fair listen and I’m not at all moved or impressed by it. The production is from A-list producers but the quality of it is just... is… and the lyrics are just… that... Nothing new, nothing exciting, nothing groundbreaking.
If you’re a Wayne’s fanatic you’ve probably stopped reading by now but if not, you’re an intelligent person! I was going to do a music review but I couldn’t find myself to say anything other than the album is average. There you go.. It is a solid 3.. out of 10 that is. You can read a thorough review fromBol’s site.
It was also funny to see Wayne backpedal this weekend and retract his “Fuck Mixtape DJ’s” statement as he called DJ Drama.(Listen Here). It’s ironic that he found a way to blame and wish death (twice) on the same Empire “Drought” mixtapes that made him a “genius” to his fans… what a fucking idiot… I would go on by why waste my or your time??Lowkey summed it up perfectly so read his statement.
Regardless, the album isn’t trash but it isn’t good… The best song is “Mr. Carter” Featuring Jay-Zwho murders Wayne’s 3 verses with his one. It is one of the few songs that Wayne doesn’t seem to be “throwed” on but he even realizes it as he tries to recover with another verse after Jay! :)
If you’re a fan, you’ll get the album and love it as I was told “His album is crack tho!” If you’re a supporter of real music then you won’t be impressed and you’ll probably download it.. Shit.. email me or leave me a comment if you want it and I’ll send it to you… I don’t support that shit…
If you work hard for your money.. then keep it and buy two copies of Usher’s or Nas’s new album!
“Do You Have Some Black In You? Would You Like Some?”- Kanye
I don’t mess with too much alternative/hipster/retro/electro/miscellaneous Hip Hop but this I can live with!
I couldn’t stand the original but the “Everybody Nose” remix features CRS (Kanye & Lupe) and a major look from the Clipse’s own Pusha T who absolutely murders the verse!!!
Who would’ve thunk Pharrell likes songs about coke???
You first heard the song… and now.. Courtesy of Live4Ever Entertainment, this is Fresh’s latest Youtube video for “50 Dollar Sneakers”, Fresh’s interpretation as Mars Blackmon.
“Mars Blackmon” was the fictional character from the 1986 film “She’s Gotta Have It” and is the alter-ego of filmmaker Spike Lee.
The Youtube video was done with by GFC affiliate Truly Curvaceous from the popular fashion site The Trendsetter.
“50 Dollar Sneakers” features the lovely visuals of Salt N’ Pepa, Fashion Designer KESH, and the Amanda Diva along with the flyest sneakers for the lover in you.
TC, Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to bring this vision to life!!!
No matter if you are a Hip Hop fan, artist, hipster, rockstar, or sneakerhead, when you hear the catch phrase “Do you know?, Do You Know?, Do You Know?” “Is It The Shoes? Is It The Shoes? Is It The Shoes?…It’s gotta be the shoes.”
NO… Not Puff or whatever he wants to call himself now.. (I actually hate him.) I’m bumping “Official Girl”
The funny thing is when I heard this song first it was sung by Karina Pasian. A beautiful singer/ pianist signed to Def Jam.
What a shock and surprise I got when I heard another version by my favorite non- singer Cassie..“Official Girl” is Cassie’s first single off here non titled album that isn’t even coming out until September.
As much as I love Cassie I cannot ride with this blatant shit that happens in the industry everyday. (Myself Included!)
Karina recorded the song and killed it.. why isn’t it her first single??? Because Cassie and Diddy have more name recognition and frankly Puff has more money and more clout. So he flexes a lil’ money muscle, makes a phone call and voila!, Karina’s song is gone and it is Cassie’s first single!
I like the record so shout out to Timbaland’s puppet Danja and the wonderful songwriters that make up “The Clutch”. (Keri Hilson, I see you!) But I’mma rock with Karina’s superior version. She’s My “Official Girl”!
